Capacities
All of the C-frame punching units in the ‘Minni-Die’ range are designed to punch metal thickness up to 6,5mm (0.25”) - except for a few exceptions - which means that users do
not have to duplicate units for ‘light duty’ or ‘heavy duty’ applications. Some units are designed for plate punching up to 20mm thick.
Throat Depths
Units are available in throat depths of 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, 230 mm, 300 mm, 450 mm but please refer to specific models for details of those throats that are available in the
chosen model.
Widths of Units & Minimum Centres
Because the entire unit range is using ‘disc springs’
to strip the punch from the punched metal - much higher design stripping forces are available - which means that the units are of less width than other types of tooling and can therefore work at closer centres.
Die Height & Shut Height
Except for a few exceptions, all the units in the ‘Minni-Die’ range have die heights of 65,0mm (2.562”) and shut heights of 197 mm
(7.75”) - which is the preferred UK standard. Other die and shut heights are available to match other systems or special applications
Diameters &
Shapes
The maximum diameter of any unit is generally equal to the Model No
- e.g.:- Model M30 will punch round holes upto 30 mm (1.181”) - in metals upto 6,5mm thick (0.25”). Shapes must be contained by the maximum diameter of the model to be used, and index positions of 0+90 degrees to the tool body main axis are included at no extra cost. Standard shapes are all made to order on fast delivery and at a standard price. These include ‘round ended slots’ - ‘squares’ and ‘rectangles’. Any size can be specified within the model diameter capacity at no extra cost.
Special Shapes or ‘Non-Standards’
Special shaped punches and dies such as twin punches or grouped punches, keyholes, irregular shapes, heeled punches, stepped dies, staggers, shear angles, etc. are all available on by quotation request.

Pedstal Die Units - below
Models Available are:- M10PF, M14PF, M20PF, and M30PF- all using the standard punch
and punch head parts from the ‘M’ units at the head of this page
The PF unit range of models are available to meet some of the problem punching applications in materials such as roll formed sections and aluminium extrusions.
These units are intended for use in press brakes, power presses, hydraulic presses and also inside our ‘Uni-Cage’ range of hydraulic cages fitted with integral hydraulic cylinders.
The punch and punch head are common to the standard range and indicated by the Model Type.
The pedestal dies can be machined in a variety of ways to meet the most awkward of sections to be punched or notched

High Pedestal Die Units - below

SM High Die Height Pedestal Units below/right. These
units are available to punch channels and similar sections and are intended for use in presses. They can also be used inside special hydraulic envelopes for specific applications.
Models available are:-
SM10, SM14, SM20, and SM30
- where ‘S’ stands for sections, and all are using the standard punch heads from the ‘M’ range at the head of this page.
Die Heights of all SM Units are 115,0mm (4.5”) and the shut height is 248mm (9.75”). These dimensions can be varied to suit customer requirements by employing a stress relieved steel profile body instead of the standard.

Plate Punching Unit - below
Model M27-230mm throat depth is designed for punching thick mild steel or aluminium of 13mm
thickness. The die height and shut heights are different to all other units. Die height is 76,0mm (3,0”) and the shut height is 241mm (9.5”).
For special applications, the punch head can be fitted to special bodies to suit deep angles, channels and sections. The units are 83mm width and the maximum diameter available is 27mm
Special units to punch even thicker materials are available for quotation on request

M1055 Units For Restricted Die Space
shown at the right hand side
These units are designed to suit hand presses, fly presses and press brakes in the UK with restricted die space. The die height is 45,0mm (1.75”) and the shut height is 140mm (5.5”). These
units use the standard die buttons from the standard ‘M’ range of units, the same disc stripper springs and modified sleeve and punch designs.

The illustration below shows two unit tool set ups side by side. Because the tools are contersinking - notice the dead stop pillars on the bed. These ensure that the hydraulic press finishes the
stroke perfectly parallel.
